Treatment Programs
Evidence-based care tailored to your recovery
Medical Detox
Medical detoxification is often the critical first step in addiction recovery. At MHS Rehab, our detox program provides round-the-clock medical supervision by board-certified physicians and experienced nurses who specialize in addiction medicine. We understand that withdrawal can be physically and emotionally challenging, which is why we prioritize patient comfort and safety throughout the entire process.
Our medical team utilizes medication-assisted treatment (MAT) protocols when clinically appropriate, including FDA-approved medications to manage withdrawal symptoms, reduce cravings, and minimize the risk of complications. Each patient receives a personalized detox plan based on the substance(s) used, duration of use, medical history, and overall health status.
Detox at our facility typically lasts 3 to 7 days, though the timeline varies depending on individual circumstances. Throughout the process, our clinical team prepares patients for a seamless transition into our residential or outpatient treatment programs, ensuring continuity of care and the strongest possible start to recovery.
Residential Treatment
Our residential treatment program offers a fully immersive recovery experience within the supportive environment of our 46-bed facility. Programs typically range from 30 to 90 days, allowing patients the time and structure needed to develop the coping skills, self-awareness, and behavioral changes essential for lasting sobriety.
Patients participate in a structured daily schedule that includes individual therapy sessions, group counseling, psychoeducation workshops, and experiential therapies such as art therapy, mindfulness meditation, and fitness activities. Our clinical team employs evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, trauma-focused therapy, and motivational enhancement to address the root causes of addiction.
Throughout residential treatment, patients also engage in life skills training, relapse prevention planning, and family therapy sessions. Our facility provides a comfortable, home-like environment with nutritious chef-prepared meals, private and semi-private rooms, and outdoor spaces designed to support healing and reflection.
Outpatient Program
Our outpatient programs are designed for patients who need continued clinical support while maintaining their daily responsibilities, whether that includes work, school, or family obligations. We offer two levels of outpatient care to match varying clinical needs.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides 5 to 6 hours of structured programming per day, 5 days per week. PHP serves as an ideal step-down from residential treatment or as a primary program for patients who require intensive clinical attention without 24-hour supervision. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers 3 hours of programming per day, 3 to 5 days per week, providing flexibility for patients further along in their recovery.
Both programs include individual therapy, group counseling, relapse prevention education, and access to psychiatric services. Patients benefit from the same evidence-based therapies used in our residential program, with scheduling designed to accommodate work and family commitments in the San Francisco area.
Dual Diagnosis
Research consistently shows that addiction frequently co-occurs with mental health disorders. At MHS Rehab, our dual diagnosis program provides integrated treatment for patients who are managing both a substance use disorder and a co-occurring mental health condition such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, or ADHD.
Rather than treating these conditions separately, our clinical team addresses both simultaneously through a coordinated care approach. Patients receive psychiatric evaluation, medication management when appropriate, individual psychotherapy, and specialized group therapy sessions that explore the relationship between mental health and substance use.
Our dual diagnosis track is available within both our residential and outpatient programs. By treating the whole person and uncovering the underlying factors that drive addictive behavior, we help patients achieve more stable, sustainable recovery outcomes.
